A crosstab query is a special type of summary query that correlates summary values between two or more sets of field values, such as sales of types of products within certain sales regions or categories of work order costs correlated with the active supervisor One set of facts is listed as row headings at the left of the crosstab and the other is listed as column headings across the top The summarized values, sums, averages, or counts are contained in the body of the crosstab To create a crosstab query, you need at least three output fields: row headings, column headings, and values You can create a crosstab query from scratch or with the help of the Crosstab Query Wizard The result of running a crosstab query is a snapshot, and none of the data in the results is editable As an example of creating a crosstab query, use the table named Workorder Crosstab, which has all the costs in one field, with an additional field that indicates the category of the cost: labor or material To use the Crosstab Query Wizard to create a crosstab that correlates the category of cost with the job supervisor, follow these steps: 1 On the Create tab s Other group, click the Query Wizard command and choose Crosstab Query Wizard from the New Query dialog box Then click OK 2 In the first dialog box (see Figure 8-13) choose the Workorder Crosstab table as the basis for the query, and then click Next (The table used for a crosstab is a regular table and doesn t need to include the name Crosstab)

The Single Sign-On service provides SharePoint with the ability to provide authentication to external services and systems on a group or individual basis The SSO service handles authenticating a user against a backend system so the user is not prompted to login It can also be used for managing authentication information for use in web services, and so on Remember that this is an optional step; if you are not ready to set up the service at this time, you can defer it until it is needed (some installs may never require it) To access the Single Sign-On setup, click the SharePoint 30 Central Administration | Operations, and then under the Security group, click the Manage Settings for Single SignOn link to open the Manage Settings page:

3 In the next dialog box (see Figure 8-14), double-click Supervisor as the field to use as the row heading Supervisor will move to the Selected Fields list Then click Next 4 In the next dialog box, choose Cost Category as the column heading, and then click Next

The first time you open this, you can expect to see the error message shown This is because the service is set to manual and does not start by default To correct this issue, you should logon to the server running the service, and then use Start | All Programs | Administrative Tools | Services to open the services window Locate Microsoft Single Signon Service in the list and you will find that it is set to manual and has not been started:

Double-click on the name to open the properties Then, you must do the following: 1 C1ick the Log On tab This, by default, is set to the Local System account which is incorrect You must change this to the SharePoint Services account (SPServices); otherwise, you will receive You do not have rights to perform this operation when you try to create a new server 2 Click the General tab, change the startup from Manual to Automatic, and then click the Start button to start the service Click OK to exit the properties 3 Close the Services window When you return to the Manage Settings for Single Sign-On page and refresh, you should see the normal display:
